The advantage of a private multiday tour is that you have the guide all to yourself, more space in the vehicle and you can adjust the tour to your needs and desires.
Who are we?
Midgard is the centre for adventure travel in South Iceland. We are a local family business. Most of us grew up in the small and well-situated town of Hvolsvöllur or in the surrounding farms. We just love our neighborhood; the only thing we like even more is showing off by taking our guests on adventures around our beautiful backyard.
We take you to our favorite places, where we even went already as kids and show you the true, unspoiled Iceland, Iceland off the beaten path. We know the secret spots, the nicest hot springs, the best views and have endless stories to tell.
Our location in the town of Hvolsvöllur is ideal, the very heart of South Iceland, along the ring road, just a stone throw away from Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, Reynisfjara and other beautiful black sand beaches, infamous volcanoes and jaw-dropping waterfalls.
A customised itinerary for you
Check out our sample itineraries in the tabs. One is for summer and the other one is for winter. We have also included suggestions for more trips so you can remove any of the days in the sample itinerary and add the suggestions. It’s also possible to design an itinerary with a mix of private and group trips and with additional days in the East or North. We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Accommodation
We can book accommodation for you at no extra cost. We do not charge any additional “middleman” fees for accommodation nor activities like is often the case in other countries. Our commission is included in the price you would pay if booking yourself. Tell us what style of accommodation you prefer and we will send you recommendations. We have many accommodation options in our area from mid-range to luxury.
Midgard Base Camp
This is our very own accommodation, restaurant and bar. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, daily happy hour, rooftop hot tub and sauna. Superb location with unobstructed views toward Eyjafjallajökull glacier. A great place to mix and mingle with locals and fellow travellers. Plus, kids love it!
